About Our Design Studio
Owner John Dix has been building custom homes since 1999. Also a licensed Appraiser and Real Estate Broker, he is past president of a multi-county board of realtors and a member of the Winnebago Home Builders Association. A youth football coach and supporter of local youth athletics, Wausau Homes Wautoma offers a scholarship award to area athletes. A native of central Wisconsin, John grew up in Waushara County. He is an expert at navigating every aspect of the homebuilding process. Partnered with a company that has been building custom homes for 50 years, John is ready to help make each homebuyer’s experience an enjoyable one from start to finish.

The Wausau Homes Design Studio is located in Wautoma. We build across all of Waushara County and a portion of Marquette County, including Plainfield, Hancock, Mount Morris, Westfield, Wild Rose, Green Lake, Princeton and surrounding communities.
Wautoma is located in Waushara County. Home to 96 lakes and 191 miles of class 1 trout streams, it is a fishing and boating paradise. The Wild Rose Fish Hatchery recently completed a state of the art hatchery renovation, one of the most modern in the Midwest. In addition to world class hunting at Edenwood Ranch and Preserve, the outdoor enthusiast can choose cross-country skiing, snow shoeing horseback riding during winter months.
The area offers a wide variety of entertainment options, which include downhill skiing at Nordic Mountain, archery with the Waushara Archers, music festivals at Black Hawk Folk Society and inspiring performances at McComb-Bruchs Performing Art Center. Take an ATV, mountain bike or a snowmobile on the miles of trails in the area.
